Something strange happens in a country I don’t know how to pronounce.

I find this somewhat disconcerting, even if it hasn’t had any tangible impact on my life. The ease in which telecommunications companies would just roll over without even a court order, and then hide behind how it’s not their job to second guess our government. They do realize they don’t actually work for our government and shouldn’t be rolling over to invade the privacy of their customers, don’t they?

At this point, I actually don’t mind when George W. Bush spends time back on his ranch. I understand he’s spent more than a full year of his presidency on vacation, but there are so many fucked up things that have happened while he has been on the job that I can’t really begin to care every time I see some story about how he’s back home. He should spend as little time affecting policy as possible.

I’m not completely sure what to make of this, but it’s fairly interesting, if only really affecting a small area (not the area I live, by the way). The comments are more interesting than the article itself, though only in the context of being a response to the situation as a whole.

The Edwards campaign gets at least a little boost.

I do wish Kucinich had a chance to be our nominee. I am happy supporting Edwards, but every now and again, part of me wishes I could just throw my support behind Kucinich without regard to the fact that I would be throwing my vote away. In 2004, the people who were positioning themselves to be front runners all seemed acceptable candidates, but this time around I’d really like to see someone who is not Hillary, so I feel like I need to vote for someone who might win. Oh well.

Edwards is dropping the gloves with regards to Hillary, and I hope he gets a couple of good licks in in the next few months.

Here’s an interview with Mike Gravel. He does have some interesting things to say, but I find it reads in a more familiar fashion if you pretend he’s shouting the responses at you. Though I actually like his response to the question of his anger. All in all, it would be an interesting ride if he managed to get the nod.

Daily show clips here and here.

Olbermann worst persons here.

Every now and again Geraldo makes sense. Though it tends to be when he’s talking about immigration. He does really seem to passionately disagree with the Tancredos and their ilk on that issue, and as a result I occasionally find things he says to be amusing on some level. Ripping Malkin is great, and not lessened by the apology really, because he does make it clear in the second video that he doesn’t care for her still.

I’d post about Ann Coulter making stupid and incredibly irresponsible comments, but I don’t think we should do her the service of keeping her in the conversation. She says terrible things, and then we shout about it, and what happens? Her books sell and she can continue to make a living pissing people off. She doesn’t add anything valuable to the public discourse on any issue and we need to ignore her.

Here’s one more about Hillary.

Isn’t it fun when people can’t even come up with a plausible reason as to why they were doing things that they supposedly find to be morally abhorrent?

This isn’t obviously related to politics (actually not at all), but Finger Eleven did a song for a Neil Young tribute. I wouldn’t have guessed they were fans, based on the type of music they do. I guess you never know.

That seems like enough for now.
